Soldier in Civil War (1864-1865) Co. L, Reg 20 of Illinois and got a monthly pension of $8.00 because of a disease he contracted to his liver and kidneys. He suffered from this disease the rest of his life. Moved to Kansas in May 1, 1874 ... Ellinwood, Lyons County from Carl Co. Missouri. Homesteaded a farm 1/2 mile south of the Bushton Cemetery.

Both Charles and Nancy are buried in Bushton, Rice Co., Kansas
