Cornelius Howard, son of Joseph and Mary (Howard) Howard, was born in Anne Arundel Co., and shared with his sister, Eleanor Waters, in the last will and testament of their father in 1825. He married his cousin, Rachel Howard Duvall, the daughter of Mareen and Rachel (Howard) Duvall. The license was obtained in Baltimore County on January 17, 1823. At court it was stated that Cornelius Howard died intestate seized of 150 acres of land, leaving a widow, Rachel Howard, and two infants, Mary Elizabeth Howard and Sarah Eleanor Howard. Thomas W. Watkins was appointed trustee of the estate and the balance due the heirs were $2,830.20. His personal estate was settled on October 12, 1831, when the balance was divided between the widow, Rachel Howard, and her two children--Mary E. Howard and Sarah Howard. In 1835 his widow and two children were heirs to the estate their great-uncle, Thomas Worthington Howard, who died without issue and possessed of "Resurvey" of 133 1/2 acres.
