Notes for James Mullikin

James Mullikin's name first appears in the Maryland records in 1660 when "came Thomas Williams and demands land for the transportation of ......James Mullikin...." and others "brought all, come over in the year One Thousand Six Hundred and Sixty."
On April 18, 1664 James Mullikin patented a 300 acre tract in Dorchester County and called it "Mullikin's Orchard." In August, 1665 he purchased another 200 acres and named it "Mullikin's Green." James lived in Calvert County on the Patuxent River and was a planter. Before 1667 he married Mary Darnall, the widow of John Darnall. She brought one son to the marriage. His will was written August 18, 1666 and probated October 16, 1667.

!Transcript AB&H, SR7344 Liber A,F,H,&L, Page 140: William Ewen demandeth six hundred acres of land for transporting himself, Ann his wife, Mary Munday, John Demall, Richard Garford and William Cox into this province this present year (1651). Warrant made for three hundred and fifty acres. Demands by inhabitants of Patuxent River-15 Jul 1651.
Transcript 3, SR7343 Liber B, Folio335, Page 244: Caveat for 150 acres of land is granted to John Dammarell adjoining to the land of John Bagleys above mentioned. Caveat for 200 acres of land is granted unto John Bagley or Bagbey upon the northern side of a creeke adjoining to the land of Thomas Thomas where the Indians now dwell being in liew of 200 acres of land formerly taken up by the said Bagley upon the lower side and adjoining to the mouth of the Hunting Creeke. Provincial Court-Patuxent-10 Mar 1656.
Liber B, Folio 337, Page 247: John Dammarell sworn and examined in open court saith that the last October was a twelve month at a Provincial Court Capt. Johnson desired the said depont to kill a steer for him and that James Wilson and John Boone went with the deponent and showed him a broad horned steer of a brown color with a mealy nose about the age of 3 years or 4 and farther saith not. John Dammarell. Provincial Court-Patuxent-10 Mar 1656.
Liber B, Page 405: Whereas Mary Dammarell hath petitioned this court for some speedy course for her safety may be taken for the settlement of the Estate of her husband late deceased and to discharge herself from the sundry engagements wherewith the said Estate is burthoned, the court doth order that the said Mary Dammarell do cause the said Estate to be justly appraised and to bring in a just and true inventory thereof at the next court to be holden in March next and Mr. Richard Collett and Mr. George Gollding are hereby impowered and appointed to be the appraisers of the said Estate and to discharge themselves upon their oaths at the court aforesaid concerning the Estate so appraised. Provincial Court-Patuxent-Between 16 & 18 Feb 1657.
Transcript 4-SR7346 Liber R, Folio 67, Page 147: William Dorrington demands land for the transportation of himself, Richard Bond, Margaret Reynolds, Leonard Voles and Mary Weylett now wife to James Mullikin. Assigned rights to Peter Johnson for the transportation of Bond, Reynolds and Voles. 24 Oct 1659. Patent Date 26 Oct 1659.
Transcript 12-SR7354 Liber HH, Page 360: Know all men by these presents that I Mary Mullican the wife of the deceased James Mullican do here assign the full right and title of headrights and warrant granted to Henry Ferrill unto Francis Gunby with the consent of James Williams my now living husband as witness our hands this 10th of July MDCLXVIII (1668). Signed by Mary Williams and James Williams (W=his mark).
