!US Census 1930 (12 May) Maryland, Montgomery Co., Wheaton District 38, Woodside, page 30B, lines 63-69: Charles P. Turner (b. 1892 - 38 - in MD - Occ: Proprietor Grocery Store - Fa: MD and Mo: MD) married 13 years to Margaret E. (b. 1896 - 34 - in MD - Fa: MD and Mo: MD). Children listed (born in MD) are: Warren P. (son b. 1918 - 12); Evelyn E. (dau b. 1919 - 11); Emily E. (dau b. 1923 - 7); Marjorie L. (dau b. 1924 - 6); and Betty J. (dau b. Jan 1927 - 3 4/12).
6' 4" tall and a big man. He had a grocery Store in Four Corners
Up until 1940, he worked in a store Fred and Harry's Restaurant (Turner's Store...Turner and Son)--Bought from Turner estate in 1988--Huge funeral in 1964...Black lady came in and walked to the coffin and the woman cried. Nancy said to her sister do you know that woman? Her sister said no. Nancy walked over to the woman and said, Mr. Turner was my father. The woman said, that if it wasn't for Mr. Turner, my children would never have eaten. He sent $100 worth of food over every Friday night for us.
