He was born about 1662/5 and died 1 Feb 1704/5. By the terms of his father's
will he inherited a tract of 450 acres of land called "Sanetley." In Joseph
Chew's will, proved 7 June 1705, the testator mentions his "son-in-law" (ie
stepson) Samuel Battee. He married Mary Smith and secondly Mrs Elizabeth
Hanslap Battee.
