Educated in the public school of Camden Point, Platte Co., Missouri and at a military school which he attended 3 and one-half years. Afterwards taking a special course in banking at the Chilicothe Normal College, Chillicothe, Missouri. He went to St. Joseph, Missouri where he was connected with a large wholesale dry goods firm, working in various departments for sixteen years. In 1916 he went to Texline, Texas, as cashier of the First State Bank. In June 1927, he left Texas to accept a position with the Mersfelder Agency of the Kansas City Life Insurance Co. at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as Auditor and Supervisor of Agencies in the State of Oklahoma.
