!Deed Book Q, pg 561, Prince William Co. Records: Gift deed dated 8 Mar. 1768 form Richard Rixey (Riccia) to Richard Rixey, Jr. of two Negroes, a woman named Hagar and a man named Tom.
Also sold a tract of land purchased by his father. In 1791, 220 acres of land was sold. On the deed it stated that he was the son of Richard Riccia.
!Deed Book Z, pg 66, Culpeper Co. Records: Richard Rixey, Jr. of Fauquier Co. purchased 448 acres of land in Culpeper Co., VA from John Pendleton and his wife on 21 June 1804.
!Deed Book AA, pg 378, Culpeper Co. Records: Sept. 1805 he purchased 74.25 acres of land from Ann Mallory of Fauquier Co.
!Deed Book BB, pg 362, Culpeper Co. Records: 6 Apr. 1807 he purchased 137.5 acres of land from William Pendleton and his wife.
It appears from this information that he moved to Culpeper Co. in 1804 and that his sons (John, Presley and Charles) also moved to Culpeper Co. from Fauquier Co. and purchased land in the same neighborhood and that later there was a village in this section know as "Rixeyville". It is located about 9 miles north of the town of Culpeper and one mile south of the Hazel River.
Richard Rixey, Jr. named his farm in Culpeper Co., VA as "Mount Pleasant" and died there in Sept. 1808. His son Charles had a home named "Pleasant Hill". Later the name of "Mount Pleasant" was changed to "Ellerslie" when it passed out of the hands of the Rixey Family (William Rixey sold it).
!Will Book E, pg 308, Culpeper Co. Records: June 25, 1808 he left the farm (Mount Pleasant) to his widow for her life and at her death it was to go to his son, William)
!Fauquier Co. Court Minute Book, 1773-1780, pg 312 and 320: He served in the Revolutionary War. From the court records of Fauquier Co he is shown to have been recommended as First Lieutenant of Militia (March 24, 1778)
!Fauquier Co. Court Minute Book, 1773-1780, pg 457 and 459: 22 May 1780, shows that he was recommended for Captaincy in the county court and on 26 June 1780, he took the prescribed oath.
!Virginia Militia in the Revolution by McAllister, pg 201: Capt. Richard Rixie is mentioned as being from Fauquier Co. (note: Rixie was improperly spelled)
He also furnished beef for the American soldiers in the Revolutionary Army (Fauquier Co. Records-Order Book, 26 March 1782: Fauquier Soldiers and Claims)
