Notes for Richard Riccia

NOTE: See the book "The Rixey Genealogy" 929.273 R528r by Randolph Picton Rixey and printed by JP Bell Co. Lynchburg, Virginia 1933.

Early records indicate he lived in Truro Parish, Prince William Co. in 1740. He purchased 220 acres of land in Hamilton Parish in the same county from William and Elizabeth Champe.

Brother - William Ricksey, wife Hanney and son John are mentioned in Fairfax County Records

May have had a daughter - Elizabeth who married a DOWELL

!Will Book G, pg 354, Dated 5 Sept. 1786: Inventory of personal property made by Francis Foley, Thomas Davis, and James Peake for "Richard Rixey". This inventory totals 520 Pounds, 10 Shillings and 4 Pence. There were 6 Negroes named and valued as follows: Samuel - 75 Pounds; Mary - 90 Pounds; Lavinia - 40 Pounds; Mimah - 73 Pounds; Teopry - 65 Pounds; and Luy - 30 Pounds. Also 2 Servants valued at 10 Pounds. Listed are: 15 cattle, 4 horses, 3 spinning wheels, 3 candlesticks, 5 reap hooks, 3 feather beds, and other household and kitchen furniture usually listed in old inventories: desks, chairs, tables and farming implements, etc.

!"Gleanings of Virginia History" by Wm. F. Boogher pg 117: Poll for election of Burgesses for the County of Prince William in 1741, shows Richard Ricksey voting for Colonel John Colville; Pg 118 shows him voting for Thomas Harrison.
