"A Brashear Family History, Vol. 1 The First 200 Years of Brashear(s) in America" by Charles Brashear (see Master Source 1), pages 107-109 states that Elizabeth BRASHEAR married John TURNER, Jr. on 1 July 1718 in Queen Annes Parish. He lists: #283 Elizabeth Brashear, (Back #27 - reference to the book of Troy Back and Leon Brashear, "The Brashear Story, a Family History, 1637-1963") b. 27 Jul 1699,, d. 1794, aged about 95 years, d/o Samuel Brashear Sr. and Ann Jones; m. 1 Jul 1718, in Queen Annes Parish, John Turner Jr, b. c1696, All Hallows Parish, Anne Arundel Co, d. 1738, s/o John Turner Sr. and Sarah ______.
John Turner Sr., b. c1671, was s/o John Turner [I], and Margaret _______. John Turner [I], d. c1705, was s/o William Turner, who immigrated to Maryland bef 7 Jun 1653, when he demanded 600 acres for transporting himself, his wife (un-named), sons William, Edward, and John, and servant, Hobart Pitty (Land Office, Bk ABH, p.323). As is the case with several of his older children, Samuel Brashear Sr gave the young couple a tract of land: 27 Nov. 1723, "For good will, Love, and affection that I bear unto John Turner Junr and Elizabeth his wife,: Samuel Brashear and wife, Ann, gives (them, part of) a tract called Brashear Pocoson, lying on the head of the western Branch near the land of John Banks called Qubeck and bounded as followeth: (I couldn't read the film), 120 acres, "during the said John Turner and Elizabeth his wife their natural life and after their death then to their heirs of her body lawfully begotten." (Bk M (Old Series 8), p.519). "Then came Saml Brashear and Ann, his wife, and acknowledged... Memo: "deed not indented" [indentured?]
This tract remained Elizabeth's separate property; it was not mentioned in her husband's will. The remainder of "Brashear's Pocoson" went to John Brashear "Senior", Elizabeth's brother.
The Will of John Turner, PGCo., written 8 Jul 1738, probate opened 29 Nov 1738, mention sons John, Samuel, Shadrick, Philip, daus Sarah, Elizabeth, Ann, Rachel, Dorcus, and father, John Turner. Witnessed by John More, Ann Bresshear, Samuel Bresshear Sr. (Md Cal Wills, v.8, p.2; PGCo Wills, Bk 22, p.3; see also Inventories and Accounts, Bk.24, p.93)
Elizabeth and John Turner (this must mean John Turner III) held pew #10 in St Barnabas Church in 1742, right behind her brothers.
