Notes for William Bowdish

!Karen Bowdish: William Bowdish, Sr. married Marcy TOMPKINS, 7 Oct.
1707, was the daughter of Nathaniel TOMPKINS and Elizabeth ALLEN.
She was born on 20 Oct. 1685 and died 17 March 1736/37.
William was admitted as a free man in Newport on April 4, 1706. They
lived in Rhode Island until 1712 when they moved to Dartmouth, Mass.
He was a tailor by trade. On 22 April 1712, he sold his dwelling house
and 8 acres that had been Nathaniel's in Newport to Capt. Richard Dunn
of Newport. William was a member of the Dartmouth Society of Friends,
more commonly known as the "Quakers". His will on file in Taunton,
Bristol Co., Massachusetts was dated 5 April 1750 and proved 5 May 1755.
In the will he mentions his sons Nathaniel, William and Freegift, his
daughters Katherine and Elizabeth, the wife of Paul Russell, his
grand-daughter Hannah Brownell, daughter of Joseph Brownell.
