!Data based upon the book: Five Genealogies of Bowdish and Bowditch Families in America...by Cyrus and Maryella Bowdish: Elizabeth was born February 28, 1821 at Beverly, Essex Co., Massachusetts. She died August 26, 1902 at Micaville, Mitchell Co., North Carolina. I am not positive, but it appears that she and George William Abbot, spouse of Joseph's sister, Sarah M. Bowditch, were possibly brother and sister. Both of their father's names were George Abbot, born about 1798. Elizabeth's mother is listed as Nancy Anna Stickney, born about 1800, and George William's mother is listed as Anna Stickney, born about 1800. There is also only four years difference in their ages.
Joseph operated a store in Tarboro, Edgecombe Co., North Carolina, and often made trips north for produce. In 1859, they purchased land in Yancy Co., North Carolina, and built a new home in 1861. A fire in 1880 destroyed their home. Their next home was near Micaville, Mitchell Co., North Carolina. They divided their lands amongst their children.
