Notes for Nathaniel Ingersoll Bowditch

!Data based upon the book: Five Genealogies of Bowdish and Bowditch Families in
America...by Cyrus and Maryella Bowdish: He went north to get his education at West Cornwall, Connecticut. In March 1864 he was conscripted into the Confederate Army in the 36th North Carolina Regiment. He was wounded and taken prisoner at the capture of Ft. Fisher in January 1865. He was discovered by Major Henry Bowditch, freed by President Lincoln and went to Beverly, Essex Co., Massachusetts. After recuperation he returned home and married. In 1871 he went west for the first time and finally went away for good and never returned. Wife's date of birth estimated about 1850. It is not known when she died.
