Julia was born October 30, 1867 at Micaville, Mitchell Co., North
Carolina. She died of tuberculosis on May 25 1908 at Micaville.
Mildred was born September 29, 1879 at Celo, Yancey Co., North
Carolina. She died January 19, 1937 at Busick, McDowell Co., North
Carolina.
From 1885 until 1902 John stayed on with his sister Georgianna on
the home place, under an agreement to take care of his parents in their
old age in return for a share of the home property. He did not marry
until he was 49, three years after his mothers death, at which time he
and Georgianna divided the 888 acres that had been left to them. He
moved west with his first wife in an attempt to find a cure for her
tuberculosis. He spent most of his life at Micaville, Mitchell Co.,
North Carolina, except for the one trip west.
