Helen was born February 9, 1876 at Mahomet, Champaign Co., Illinois. It is not known when she died.
Frederick was 21 when he went to Urbana, Champaign Co., Illinois, where he worked his way through high school and the University of Illinois, graduating in the class of 1888. He was a school teacher and a principal in various locations near Urbana. He owned a farm in Gratiot Co., Michigan, where he was active in the management and improvement of the farm.
