John was born January 16, 1900 at Fitchburg, Worcester Co.,
Massachusetts. He studied for the ministry at the Yale Divinity School
and the Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge. He was ordained at
Fitchburg in June 1930 and after that was Episcopal Student Chaplain at
Princeton University.
