In the name of God Amen, I Henrietta Pearce of Montgomery Co. in the State of
Maryland being sick, and weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding
considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and
being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared
to leave this world, when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefor
make and publish this my last Will and testament in manner and for following,
that is to say -
First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God, and
my body to the earth, to be decently buried, at the discretion of my Executor -
hereinafter named and after my Debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise and
bequeath as follows- I give and devise unto my son William Pearce all my right,
title and interest unto the Plantation whereon I now dwell, to him the said
William Pearce, and his Heirs, and assigns, in fee simple -
Item I give unto my aforesaid son William Pearce, in trust for the use of my
son Walter Pearce, the following property, a negro man name John, a woman
called Sophia and two children named Lloyd and George, two Horses call Rock
and Davey, one cow, a ord & furniture, a small breakfast table, half a dozen
green Windsor chairs, two dozen earthen plates, tow earthen dishes, the whole
set of cups and saucers, one tea pot, half a dozen of the oldest Silver tea
spoons, the negroes to be hired out or otherwise disposed of according to the
discretion of my said son Willaim, and the proceeds applied by him towards the
maintenance & support of said son Walter Pearce, & for no other purpose
whatever. -
Item I give to my son James Pearce the following negores- Dorothy, Lattie,
Abraham and Eliaz. - Item I give to my son William Pearce, all the remaining
part of my property, consisting of the following negroes: Benjamin, Nelly and
her children, Bill, Patrick, Dick, Jacob, Ben, Sarah & Peggy, Stock of every
kind, plantation - utensils, crops of all kinds, house and kitchen furniture,
Debts etc.
Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son William Pearce sole Executor
of this my Will and Testament, In testimony where of I have hereunto set my
hand, and affixed my seal this third day of May, in the year of our Lord
Eighteen Hundred and twenty three. (3 May 1823).

Signed, Sealed, published and declared by Henrietta Pearce, the above named
testatrix as and for her last Will & Testament in the presence of all who at
her request in her presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed
our names as Witness thereto.

Montgomery County Sct. on the 5th day of June 1823 came Cephas Lzenby, James
Lazenby and John Bowie all three of the subscribing witnesses to the within
last Will and Testament of Henrietta Pearce late of said County deceased and
severally made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God, that they did see the
Testatrix therein named sign and seal this will that they heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last Will and testament, and that at the time of her so doing she was to be best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding, and that they respectively subscribed their names to this will as witnesses in the presence and at the request of the Testatrix, also in the presence of each other. ---

Henrietta Pearce, guardian to Ann Pearce, now Daws, delivers 13 shares of stock in the Bank of Columbia, 5 shares of which valued at $112. each and 8 at $111 each, total value $1448.
