!Last Will and Testament of Nathaniel Chew - Will file 135H:
In the Name of God Amen, the 31st Day of August Annoq Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty One, I nathaniel Chew Senior of Gloucester in the county of Gloucester in the Province of New West Jersey Yeoman being very Sick and Weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling to mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it Appointed for all Men Once to Die do make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say Principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my Body I recommend it to the Earth of be Buried in A Christian Like and Decent Manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the Almighty power of God and as touching Such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me in this life, I give devise and disose of the same in the following manner and form.
Imprimus it is my will and order that all my just debts and funeral charges be duely paid. I likewise give and bequeath unto Mary Chew my well Beloved wife all my household goods and half the cattle and half the sheep and half the swine that is upon the Plantation belonging to me Nathanael Chew and likewise the best horse upon the plantation or elsewhere that belongs to me Nathanael Chew and likewise one third of my corn of every kind upon the ground or elsewhere that is mine and delivered unto her without any cost or charge unto her and likewise the best room in the house and bread corn for she and my children while she remains my widow and to have two cows and a horse kept while she remains my widdow and likewise one third of the apples of my orchard and I likewise give and bequeath unto Richard Chew my well Beloved son the plantation which I now live upon with all and every of the untencils belonging to me and all my horses and half the cattle, and half the sheep and half the swine upon the plantation and two thirds of the corn of every kind upon the plantation whom together with Mary my Wife I likewise constitute and ordain my sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. The Plantation which I give to my son Richard Chew I give to him his heirs and assigns for ever.
I likewise give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Taber four pounds proclamation money to be paid one year after my decease. I likewise give and bequeath unto my daughter Susanna Chew Six pounds proclamation money to be paid two years after my deceaase. I likewise give and bequeath unto my son Jeffrey Chew Thirty Acres of Land joining to Thomas Munyan which I bought of Israel Ward which thirty acres of land I give to my son Jeffery Chew to him his heirs and assigns for ever with all my wearing cloths and my gun and I likewise give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Chew nine acres of meadow which I bought of Israel Ward and joining to John Thomlinsons plantation and fifty acres of land which I bought of Jacob Clements joining to the Meadow afforsaid and to John Thomlinsons plantation.
Likewise it as my will that my son Nathanel Chew be put out to a thread and to have six pounds proclamation money to be paid one year after he comes of age. It is my will that my daughter Mercy Chew have six pounds proclamation money one year after she comes of age to be paid to her by her mother and it is my will that my daughter Priscilla Chew have six pounds proclation money when she comes of age or one year after and it is my will that Sarah Jones have two suits of cloths when she comes of age which Mary my wife must give her if she lives with my wife till she comes of age and it is my will that my son Richard give unto Sarah Jones one cow and calf when she comes of age and I hereby utterly disalow revoke and dissanul all and every other former testaments wills and legacies requiests and executors by me in any ways before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal the day and year above written. It is my will that all the legacies to be paid to the above named persons except Mercys by my son Richard Chew,

Be it remembered that on the thirtyeth day of December Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and thirty one personally came and appeared Mary Chew and Richard Chew the executors whitness named they being of the people called Quakers on their Soolemn Affirmation according to Law did declare and affirm that the within writing contains the true last will and testament of Nathaniel Chew
