Brashear of North Carolina and Some Descendants in TN, KY, MO, TX, etc., by Charles Brashear; page 78: Phoebe Nicks, d/o John Nicks and Margaret Edwards, was born June 8, 1738, probably in Talbot Co., Maryland, before her family moved to North Carolina. She died in NC in Dec 1811. John Nicks had migrated from Talbot or Dorchester Co, Maryland, to Orange Co, North Carolina, in 1753, with a stopover in Culpepper Co, Virginia. He is listed among the "Nottingham Colony," the founders of Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Orange, later Guilford Co, North Carolina.
