!'The Brashear Family' by Chris H. Bailey: 31 Oct 1850 - Ithra Brashear, stating his age was 67 and a resident of Crawford Co., Illinois, claimed that he volunteered 1 Apr 1813 at Ft. Lamotte (later Palestine, IL) for 12 months in Capt,. Joseph Brown's Company, Mounted Rangers of the Illinois and Indiana frontiers commanded by Col. Russell. He served 9 months of this term in the War of 1812 and was paid at Vincennes, about Dec 1813. He was also mustered into service at Vincennes and served another three or four months marching to various Indian towns in Indiana and Illinois under the command of Ensign Gragg. He applied for bounty land on 28 Sep 1850, and received Warrant No. 40239 for 80 acres.
