!A Brashear(s) Family History, Vol. 3 by Charles Brashear page 81: On 8 Aug 1794, Robert Gilliland bought 640 acres on the north side of Clinch River, with Elias Roberts (his brother-in-law) as witness (Knox Co, TN, Deeds, Book C, p.22).
This is same date as Robert Samuel Brashear purchased his land on Clinch River.
He died before July 1796, when his widow, Mary, was appointed administratrix of his considerable estate, with John Gilliland and Elias Roberts as her bondsmen.
