General Peter F. Bacon, his wife Elizabeth Clark Bacon, Cornelia MAV Tindell, Elizabeth Widdicombe Hicks and James S. Hicks, Samuel Bacon are all buried in the Congressional Cemetery, lots 196 to 200. Mr. Douglas Zevely writing in Columbia Historical Magazine, Vol. 6, page 117 and 118 April 14, 1902 writes: "General Peter Bacon built more than 60 years ago his home 336 Indiana Ave., N.W. Mrs. Bacon wa daughter of Dr. Edward Clark, she was born at the Navy Yard in this city and died in the old home 10 May 1897, aged nearly 79 years. The younger daughter lived there for a while after her fathers death."

General Bacon was a Washingtonian by birth and was nearly 87 when he died. His father came to this city from England. When the seat of Government was established here he started a grocery store South East Corner of Seventh and Pa. Ave., N.W., which he purchased. The upper part being his home. To this business Gen. Bacon with his brother Samuel succeeded about 1840 and was continued by them there for more than 50 years. In his younger days he was associated with a Militia Company known as the Washington Blues and when the Civil War began he was Brigadier General of the District Militia, Member of the Police Board for 10 years and also member of the Fire Board and School Trustee.
