Elijah is shown on a Roane County 1826 Tax List as living on Poplar Creek. He sold his share in his father's estate in 1836 and is listed among the heirs in the Court settlement in 1856?58. Chancery Case, "Jane Nesmith vs. Rebecca Roberts," Roane Co, TN, 1852, says Elijah "departed this life in the state of Mississipi without issue or widow."
