!"The Wroe & Chancellor Families," June 1992, Chapter 3, Pages 171-172 by Wiliam Clark Wroe: Samuel Houston Jones was captured by Union forces at Dumphries, VA on October 16, 1863. He refused to sign the "Oath of Allegiance" and remained confined at the Old Capitol Prison in District of Columbia from March 19, 1864 until June 13, 1864. From there he was sent to the POW camp at Fort Delaware, DE. He was eventually released on June 20, 1875, two months after Appomattox.
