!US Census 1900 (8 June) Kansas, Rice Co., Roll T623_497, SD 7 ED 224, Sheet 3A, Page 234A, House No. 47, Lines 34-37: Jno Peterson (b. Sept 1851 - 48 - in IL - Occ: Farmer - Fa: NJ and Mo: OH) married 28 years to Mary E. (b. Apr 1854 - 45 - in NC - Fa: NC and Mo: NC) having 7 children born and all still living. Child listed is: Arthur S. (son b. June 1882 - 17 - in KS - Occ: Farm Labor). ALSO LISTED is: Frank Blaylock (b. Apr 1884 - 16 - in KS - Occ: Farm Labor - Fa: IL and Mo: IL)

!From Obituary: He was born near Peoria, Knox Co., Illinois, Sept. 3, 1851 and died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Ira Fail (Alice) of Genesseo, Kansas on Sept. 21, 1927. He was 76 years and 17 days. His parents moved to Missouri when he was 19 years old, he married on Mar. 26, 1970 to Mary Trantham and had 5 sons and two daughters. Listed as: FM of Springfield Colo, CR of Jetmore Kansas, Mrs. Josie Davis of Everett Wash, MW Peterson of Wichita Kansas, HJ Peterson of Portland Ore., Mrs Alice Fail of Portland Oregon, AS Peterson of Torrington, Wyoming...All except AS Peterson were at the funeral (he had recently visited him). In 1875, he moved his family to Kansas and filed on a claim in Rice Co. on the North west quarter section on which the city of Bushton now stands, he lived there until 1882 when he moved to eastern Kansas for a short time and then returned to Genesseo where he lived until 1901 when he moved to Hodgeman Co. and lived 1/2 mile east of Hanston. He lived at that place until failing health caused him to sell his home in July 1926. At this time he moved to Ganesseo to the home of his daughter Alice Fail. His health failed rapily and on Mar 1, 1927 he returned to the home of his son CR Peterson where he and his aged wife made their home until two weeks ago when they went for a short visit to the home of Mrs Alice Fail, wheer after 4 days of severe suffering he passed away on Sept. 21, 1927 at 12:30am. He is survived by is wife, 5 sons, 2 daughters, 30 grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
