1. John is also known as Col. John Weems but he is not the same one as Col. John Weems (1737), they were cousins.
2. There was a census taken in 1776 that shows John with 1 white woman, no children given and 61 blacks. There was another census in1 790 that shows him with 2 males over 16, 3 males under 16, 3 females and 114 slaves.
