!Kentucky Biographical Encyclopedia, 19th Century, Page 379-380: In 1863, he was elected to the Lower House of the Kentucky State Legislature and served two years. He became Director and First President of the Elizabethtown and Paducah Railroad. He amassed a large fortune (about $500,000) and much of his property was in Louisville, Kentucky. He was married 19 September 1833 to Zorayda Young of West Point, Kentucky who died 26 Jan 1874. They had 6 children only two of whom are now living - Mary Elizabeth the wife of James B. Payne; and Ellen the wife of Geo. W. Welsh.
