Brashers of Murry (i.e., Maury) Co, TN, to Joseph Brashears, of Roane Co, TN, "I have an undivided interest in my grandfather, Bazzel Brashears, dec'd, estate, embracing his late residence which descends to me as the only child and heir at law of Bazzel Brashears (Jr.) dec'd, who was a son of sd Bazzel Brashears dec'd & brother of Phoebe and Campbell Brashears who have heretofore departed life intestate unmarried ... for $500 ... all my right and interest to Joseph Brashears."

The pension application says James had 2 sons and an unspecified number of daughters, all dead except one son: William Andrew Wilkerson Brashears
