Notes for Zaddock Griffith
The manor house at Tanglewood, near Winston-Salem, NC, was a wedding present to this couple. The house was sold to RJ Reynolds with the stipulation that he must make it public land if he ever sold. The manor and grounds are now a popular city park and golf course.
A small, beautiful church is on the grounds. The cemetery there has many of the individuals from this family. Some writers believe that the wedding was in 1840.
