"We are well aware of the fact that many unfortunate individuals have an ungovernable propensity for its [alcohol’s] use. This state of things we can readily trace to two sets of prime causes; the one, the organization of the brain; and the other, the circumstance of education: both of which could be easily remedied by the united efforts of philanthropy and wisdom."
