Child listed is: Fannie (dau b. 1862 - 18 - in GA). ALSO LISTED are: John Sledge (father-in-law b. 1793 - 87 - in NC - Fa: NC and Mo: NC) married to Maria (mother-in-law b. 1803 - 77 - in NC - Fa: NC and Mo: NC)

David Selman was born 15 APR 1830, either in Floyd Co, GA, or prior to his family settling there. There are mixed reports on his middle name. Tradition passed to me by my grandfather puts his middle initial as B. Yet other (unofficial) reports show a middle name of Francis.
My Theory: Note that David's first son was named after David's g-father, the 2nd after David's father, and the third an unrelated -- presumeably after his wife's father. The next son was named David Benjamin Franklin Selman. I believe that this was David's actual name, also and that part of the family remembered B. and others mistakenly used Francis. In either case, he married on 15 Sep 1852 to Melissa B. Sledge (12 Jun 1831-08 Jan 1928), and they had seven known children:

2. Willis R. Selman (20 Jul 1857-22 Aug 1858)
3. John William Selman (1858-1949; m. Mary California Thomas; 8 known children)
4. David Benjamin Franklin Selman (09 Jul 1859-21 Jun 1931; m1. 15 Dec 1879, Mary Louise McKinney (1859-1919); m2. 17 Nov 1920, Florence G. Mosley; 9 children total)
5. Margaret F. Selman (22 Nov 1861-12 Jul 1891)
