Notes for Robert Sheppard
Robert Sheppard and Ruth Madden's marriage on record at Court House at Clarksburg, WV. (Year 1802) That same year Jonathan and Robert's Father died. Will was probated and on record. Robert's sons William and James were supposedly called "Bill Bobby" and "Jim Bobby" in order to not get them confused with Jonathan's sons "William" and "James". It is suspected that Robert's son James never married.
In the Census of Jackson Co. WV. year 1870 James was living with his sister Mahala Sheppard and her husband Absolom Full.
Robert Sheppard and his wife Ruth are buried in the Sheppard Cemetery, located 3 miles on Rt.14 South, out of Elizabeth,WV. to Palestine. At Palestine, turn right on Garfield Road and travel 4 miles to a Silo on the left side of the road. The Sheppard Cemetery is just behind the (Silo) , in a galvanized fenced area. It is visible from roadway, 100 yards to Silo.
