He served in the military between Jun 1861 and 1865 in TN, GA, SC, and NC Cmd 58th NC Inf Regiment.
(1) Appointed as Lt Col in the 58th NC Infantry Regiment (CSA) on 29 Oct 1864 during the Civil War. Was Captain, then Major and was Lt Col when he resigned in Mar 1865. He joined at 28 years of age on Jun 25 1862.
Was a dry goods salesman in Burnsville (Yancey) NC and was in between brides number two and three. Was widowed from his second wife and married again about 1880. Moved to Washington State in 1893.
