!A Brashear(s) Family History, Descendants of Robert and Benois Brasseur: Vol. 2: Robert C. Brashear of North Carolina and Some Descendants in TN, KY, MO, TX, etc., by Charles Brashear, page 100: "Autobiography" of Thomas Kerr Kirkpatrick, 1923 ... I taught three terms of school at Morton, two six month terms and one three month term. There was to be no 1874 spring, and I secured a three month term at Old Albany, one mile north of Orrick, that spring (1874). In June of that year, I met the young lady, Cornelia Brasher, who would afterward become my wife. My wife was a daughter of Asa Dow and Elizabeth Gordon Brasher. She was born near what is now known as the town of Oerick, Ray Co, Missouri, in the 27th day of July, 1856, was fairly well educated for that day, and was married at the age of 19, and lived her whole life in Ray Co., Missouri. She was one of nine children. I taught a nine month term of school in the same district, closing in June, 1875. In August (August the 12th, 1875), I was married to Miss Cornelia Brasher, by the Rev. Samuel Huffaker, a Methodist minister, then Supt of the Richmond Public School. We went to housekeeping in September following on a farm 1 mile south of Orrick. That winter I taught school in that district. In the autumn of 1877, we left the farm and moved to Albany and I engaged in the mercantile business. Our first child was born in September, 1876, a girl. This child lived only a few days. The latter part of August, 1877, our second child was born, a girl, Katie Belle, who lived only about 13 months, passing away in Sept, 1878. On the 8th day of January, 1879, our third child was born, Lizzie Lois, now the wife of Samuel Brown Morrison. In the meantime, I sold my interest in the store to my partner, M.G. Taylor, and resumed farming and teaching, one term at Centennial and one term in the Storms district. On the first day of Nov, 1880, our fourth child was born, a girl, Amanda Brasher, now the wife of Arch Bright. In the spring of 1881, we moved to a farm four miles east of Richmond. I continued to farm and teach. On the 21st day of April, 1883, our fifth child was born, a boy, Charles Letcher. On the 28th day of January, 1886, our sixth child was born, a girl, Cornelia Bessie, now wife of Anjil R. Bright. [See book pages 100-101 for more details]
