Notes for Euphemia Etta Wells

!Obituary from "Morgantown Post" newspaper, 21 November 1951:
"Mrs. Effie Etta Bircher, 71, of Westover, died Tuesday at Vincent Pallotti Hospital. She was the widow of George C. Bircher, who died in 1945.
Mrs. Bircher was born March 8, 1880, a daughter of the late James M. and Susan Breakiron Wells, and had resided in this country all her life. She was a member of Westover Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, G. Lester of Westover, with whom she made her home; a brother, George E. Wells of Morgantown, a sister, Mrs. Lily M. Hall of Morgantown; a half-brother Roy Wells of Youngstown, Ohio; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was buried in Beverly Hills Cemetery: Morgantown, Monongalia, WV, USA."

Some references list the first or second name as Euphemia. Effie Etta Wells was born Mar. 8, 1880 and on Dec. 25, 1897 married George Calvin Bircher, who was born Sept. 7, 1874 to Lewis Steinrod Bircher and Nancy C. Jane Gallatin and died Oct. 21, 1945. They ran a farm near Morgantown and later resided in Westover. George was employed at the Scotts Run mines and then at Lazelle Bros. auto repair and storage. Their only son George Lester was born Nov. 14, 1898 and on Jan. 27, 1923 married Alice LaVerne Dewitt, who was born Oct. 3, 1901 to John Sylvester Dewitt and Phoeba Alberta (Bertha) Berryhill. George was a mechanic at Lazelle Bros. They lived in Westover and had eleven children: Esther Louise (born Nov. 25, 1923), John Lester (born Oct. 20, 1924 and served in World War II in 1944), Donald Lee (born Oct. 13, 1927 and was in the Navy), Margaret Lois (born Dec. 12, 1929), Robert Lemuel (born Mar. 22, 1931), George Lewis (born (Nov. 14, 1932), Alice LaVerne (born Mar. 8, 1934), Elsie Lucille (born June 30, 1936), William Logan (born Aug. 5, 1937), Goldie Ruth Lorella (born Nov. 22, 1939) and Betty Lou (born) Jun. 2, 1943).
