Amos Sturgis was the Capt. of the 2nd Company of the Third Battalion of the Phila. Co. Militia. He moved to Mount Pleasant, Ontario with his father Thomas Sturgis in 1798. His son John founded the town of Sturgis, Michigan. His Grandson was a general in t e Civil War. His Great-grandson, "Jack" Sturgis died with Custer at the Little Big Horn, His grandson, General Samuel D. Sturgis, was the father of Lieutenant "Jack" Sturgis who perished with General Custer
