Alfred Condit, at the age of 17, made the trip from New Jersey to Wood Co., OH on foot with his brother, James. He was for many years extensively engaged in shipping cattle and sheep to the New York market. His eldest son, Harvey, occupied the old farm of his father, Alfred, who had received it from his father, Philip Condit, the title to which was directly from the government.
