!US Census 1850 (31 August) Tennessee, Hickman Co., Roll M432_884, Sheet 17, Page 9, House No. 121, Lines 29-35: Isaac Nicks (b. 1772 - 78 - in NC - Occ: Farmer) married to Nancy (b. 1805 - 45 - in TN). Children listed (born in TN) are: John (son b. 1825 - 25 - Occ: Laborer); Thomas (son b. 1832 - 18 - Occ: Farmer); Susan (dau b. 1835 - 15); Marshall (son b. 1840 - 10); and Elizabeth (dau b. 1843 - 7)
The Harbison family originally came to Red River County from Hickman County Tennessee by wagon pulled by oxen. The first records show Isaac Nicks born about 1772 in North Carolina and wife Nancy born about 1805. The 1850 Hickman County census shows Isaac to be 78 and Nancy to be 45. Isaac passed away between that date and 1868, at which time Nancy moved to Texas with her youngest daughter, Sarah Elizabeth (Nicks) Harbison and her husband Sam Harbison. Nancy dies three miles west of Bogata in Blossom Prairie as it was known then and was buried in Old Souls Chapel Cemetery, 1/2 mile West of Halesboro Cemetery and the Pat Patton store at that time.
