Opal stated that at one time she had wrote a letter to the Cherokee Nation, to see about getting monetary help. They wrote a letter back to her saying they would pay for any education/schooling she wanted, but they wouldn't send her a check directly. She had saved these papers for a long time. Ron, a son in law, had accidently thrown them out. He was suppose to take some garbage to the dump, but grabbed the wrong can, and dumped it over a mountain side. Opal has not be able to find those papers since, so she figures that Ron through out the wrong papers.
