!Encyclopedia of American Biography: KEY, PHILIP BARTON, lawyer, legislator, was born Nov. 2, 1804, in Woodley, Georgetown, D. C. He went to Louisiana in 1835, and engaged in planting. He was a member of the legislature of Louisiana and of the constitutional convention in 1850. He died May 4, 1854, near Thibodeaux, La.
