!April 25 1940 Virginia Star (Culpeper, VA); Obituary of Samuel Judson Feaganes:
Samuel Judson Feaganes aged 78 years died at his home in Culpeper early Sunday morning, April 21st, after being in declining health for the past year. He was the youngest son of Samuel Feaganes and his wife Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Smith Feaganes, his wife and was born at Kelleysville. Engaged in farming during all his adult years, his entire life was spent in Culpeper County. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Lillie Feaganes, to whom he was married in 1900, and six sons and daughters: Everett, Martin, and Linn Feaganes of Culpeper. Misses Louise and Vivian Feaganes of Culpeper and Miss Carroll Feaganes of Richmond and one granddaughter Elizabeth Feaganes. He is also survived by one sister Mrs. Fannie Brown of Stevensburg Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3:30p.m. from his home on the Fredricksburg Road with the Rev. W.R. Kiefe of Stevensburg officiating and being assisted by the Rev. J. J. Clarke of Brandy. The active pallbearers were: Douglas McVeigh , Ed Martin, William Partlow, Murphy Hoffman, John Duncan, and Elwin Rinker. Honorary pallbearers were: J.William Swan, A.W. Smith, John Yowell, Edwin Norman, Herbert Mitchell, Dr. J.L. Stringfellow, H.H. Berry, Allen Rothdall, Charlie Brown, Harvey Brown, Clem Long, Ashby Hitt, Bill Walker, Joe Henshaw, John Covington, William Thompson, Shelton Brown, William Smith, W.W. Shakleford, Joel Inskeep, EC Smoot, Connie Kibler, John Inskeep, John McDevitt, Charlie Seal, Elwin Rinker, Lester Allport, Dr. Granville Eastman, Irving Martin, Henry Allen, Willie Mitchell, Clyde Weaver, Charlie Feaganes, Frank Feaganes, Henry Feaganes, and Guinn Williams.
Among relatives from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Feaganes and their sons Henry, Sam, and Frank from Alexandria, Morton Feaganes and Miss Madge Chewing of Washington DC Mrs. Gertie Hopewell, Mrs. Bertha M Brown and Miss Jean Brown of MT Salem, Mrs. George Perry of Spotsylvania Mrs. Annie Foster of MD and many others. Burial was at the Masonic Cemetery in Culpeper Co., Virginia
