Notes for Nathaniel Alexander Rankin

Enlisted in C.S.A. army, October 6, 1861. Served with Company H, 37th Regiment of North Carolina Troops - "Gaston Blues." Was wounded in the head on June 27, 1862 in Virginia, and was hospitalized. Was sent home to hospital in Charlotte, NC on July 8, 1862, where minnie ball was located in roof of his mouth and removed. He died three weeks later, probably from infection.
