!A Brashear(s) Family History, Vol I, by Charles Brashears; page 108-109: Shadrack was baptized Episcopalian but became a Methodist; owned tract "Wildcat" 125 acres, in Greenbelt, Prince George's Co., Maryland.
!August 1776 Census MD - Shadrick Turner is listed as 48 (b. Abt 1728) and Sarah as 38 (b. Abt 1738)...also 4 boys and 5 girls from age 25 to 1 year old & 4 male slaves.
"There are two Shadrach Turners and they often are confused. One is the Shadrach Turner of VA who had siblings Abnegro, & Meshack. This Shadrach married Ann Pollard.
Sue Terhune's Grandfather was the Shadrach Turner of Prince George Co., MD born Dec 28 1732 or 33 to John Turner and Elizabeth Brashears. Shadrach's siblings were Sarah, John, Elizabeth, Ann, Samuel, --rnett, Rachel, Dorcas and Philip. Shadrach was married to two different women named Sarah and owned the land "Wild Cat" in what is now Greenbelt, MD. We have copies of the notations of family births in Sarah's bible. The bible is owned by a Methodist Church in MD and they have the image of Shadrach Turner depicted in their stain glass of their church. The MD Archives has a research paper written by the now deceased Professor Ted Bissell on the occasion of the church's 200th anniversary. It is called Tracing Shadrach and Sarah Turner, Pioneer Methodists of Bladensburg. Shadrach Turner is remembered as the founder of the Methodist Church in Prince George MD."
