!Obituary, Rockville, MD Oct. 15: An apoplectic stroke which he suffered early yesterday caused the death in his home in Rockville early today of Albert J. (Uncle Albert) Almoney 80, one time newspaper editor and publisher and for many years prominent in Democratic politics in the state and county. The funeral will take place from the home at 2:30pm Tuesday with the burial in the Rockville Union Cem. The Rev. Spence Dunbar, rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Rockville, will officiate. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Mary B. Almoney and Mrs. J. Paul Burnett both of Rockville. Mr. Almoney was a lifelong resident of Rockville. For many years and until its publication was discontinued about ten years ago, he was editor and proprietor of the Montgomery Advocate, which was published at Rockville and which was one of the oldest weekly newspapers in the State. He was formerly secretary of the Democratic State Central Committee of Maryland and at one time was chairman of the Democratic State Central Committee for Montgomery Co. Taught Many "The
Ropes". Mr. Almoney was formerly chief clerk of the Maryland House of Delegates for about 27 years. He also served for four years as reading clerk of the State Senate. His thorough familiarity with legislative procedure made him invaluable to new Speakers of the House of Delegates, a large number of whom "learned the ropes" under his direction. For many years he was a member of the Rockville lodge of Masons.
