William & Ed went to live with Uncle Brice Hughes near Hickman Ky in 1840, after their father's premature death. William went turtle hunting with other boys in a slough behind an island on the river. Contracted Typhus and died July 13, 1841- From Diaries of Ed & AM Hughes
