!Obituary - New York Times, 19 Feb 1914, Pg 9, Col 5: Richard Coxe Weightman, for many years a contributor to newspapers and magazines, and Secretary of the War Investigation Committee, appointed by President McKinley, 1888-1890, died of heart disease on Tuesday at his home in District of Columbia Mr Weightman was born in Washington on Oct 25, 1845. He was educated at St Timothy's Hall, Catonsville, MD, 1855-57 and married Miss Laura Jurey of New Orleans in 1878. He served in the Confederate Army from 1861 to 1865 and afterward entered newspaper work on the New Orleans "Times Democrat". Subsequently he went to Washington where he became an editorial writer on the Washington Post. For several years he also was an editorial contributor to the New York Sun.
