colonial Militia and in the Armies of the Revolution. Member of the Provincial Congress of 1776 (from Tryon Co.) which adopted the Declaration of Rights and Constitution for North Carolina as a State Independent of Great Britian.

!13 N.C. Colonial and State Records, pp 811 to 1000: In 1779 was a member of North Carolina House of Commons (from Lincoln Co.).

NOTE: His wife was a cousin from Scotland
