!Obituaries April 23, 1997 - Elsie Abernethy - ODESSA (Special): Services for Elsie Abernethy, 90, of Texarkana, Ark., will be at 3 P.M. today in Crescent Park Baptist Church with the Revs. Craig Turner, Barry Owens and Rick Ramine officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. She died Monday, April 21, 1997, in Texarkana. She was born Aug. 20, 1906, in Loving. She was a member of Hickory Street Baptist Church. Her husband, Rev. James S. Abernethy, died in 1981. She graduated from Texas Tech University, and she received a master's degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary. She was a retired schoolteacher. Survivors include a sister, Osta Hickerson of Texarkana; a brother, Dr. Ben Lawrence of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to the Crescent Park Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
