!NOTE: Obituary from The Muncy Luminary newspaper of Muncy, Lycoming county, Pennsylvania of June 26(?) 1902:
John Roan Barr was one of five children of Samuel Barr, the other 4 being Andrew, Thomas, James Russell, and Margaret Shannon. John Roan's grandfather was Thomas Barr and he was born in Ireland and came to the US abt 1785, eventually settling in Lewis twp in Northumberland county, Pa. where son Samuel was born, married and raised his family. John Roan Barr moved to Muncy in 1839 and married Cassandra S. Miller on 7 July 1840. She was a grandaughter of the Lycoming county pioneer Samuel Wallis. John Roan Barr and Cassandra had 4 children, son Thomas Russell Barr dying in his 11th year in 1861 and the other 3 surviving their parents: William M. Barr of Staten Island, N.Y., S. Walker Barr of Sheffield, Warren county, Pa; and Horatio Barr of Detroit, Michigan. All of John Roan Barr's siblings pre-deceased him. He died at age 88 years, 4 months and 7 days in June of 1902
