This family took the name of Cheatwood rather than Chitwood after the revolutionary war. They had 14 children. Jean was of a Huguenot family and they spelt the name Cheatwood. In the 1783 Powhatan Co. VA census, page 59, William Cheatwood is listed having 8 white males and 1 black male.
