June 1840 - 59 - in IL - Occ: Farmer - Fa: IN and Mo: OH) married 30 years to Rhoda A. (b. May 1852 - 48 - in MO - Fa: NC and Mo: TN) having 9 children born and 8 still living. !Obituary - "Pomona Kansas Newspaper" - Date of death Sept 21, 1922: Patrick Beard, past 80 years old died at his home 6 1/2 miles northwest of the city at 8:35 o'clock Tuesday night. Inflamation of the bladder was the cause. Patrick Beard was born in Mercer Co., Illinois June 6, 1840. He came to Kansas with his parents in 1857, settling on a farm in Appanoose Township and had lived there ever since within two miles of the old home place except two years he spent in Illinois. He was married to Rhoda M. Anderson on February 24, 1870. To this union nine children were born, eight of whom survive one having died in infancy. They are Mrs. Mary Ray., Mrs. Lucy Garber., Edward Beard., Cyrus Beard., Emery Beard., Mrs. May Hetrick., Miss Retta Beard and Mrs. Amy Watts. Mrs. Beard died November 4 1919.
Mr. Beard was an honest upright man, a good neighbor and was highly respected by all who knew him. At the time of his death he had been a member of the Baptist church for over forty years.
The funeral services will be held in the Appanoose Baptist Church tomorrow at 11:00. Burial will be in Dean cemetery
